Peptide reconstitution calculator

A simple tool for freeze-dried research peptides. Enter how much powder is in the vial, how much liquid you're adding, and the amount you want per portion — the strength and measurements work themselves out instantly. No jargon needed.

Strength

2500 mcg per ml

Liquid per portion

1 unit = 0.01 ml

Portions per vial

How it works: you dissolve the powder in the liquid once, then measure out equal portions from the vial as needed. Strength = powder ÷ liquid; liquid per portion = the amount you want ÷ strength. A portion is sometimes called an aliquot. The maths is the same whatever the compound. See the step-by-step guide. Liquids to mix with: bacteriostatic water · acetic acid 0.6%.

Common questions

What does reconstitution mean?

Reconstitution just means turning a freeze-dried powder back into a liquid by adding a measured amount of liquid to the vial. Once it’s a liquid, you can measure out equal portions from it.

How do you work out the strength?

Strength is simply the amount of powder divided by the amount of liquid you add. For example, a 5 mg vial mixed with 2 ml of liquid gives 2.5 mg per ml (2,500 mcg per ml). The calculator does this for you as you type.

How much liquid should I add to the vial?

There’s no single right answer — more liquid makes each portion bigger and easier to measure, less liquid makes it more concentrated. Around 1–3 ml per vial is typical. Pick the amount that lands your portion on an easy-to-read mark on your syringe.

What does 1 unit on a marked syringe equal?

On a standard U-100 syringe, 1 unit is 0.01 ml — so 10 units is 0.1 ml. The calculator converts the portion size into these units for you.

What liquid do you mix it with?

Bacteriostatic water is the usual general-purpose choice. Some compounds that don’t dissolve easily need a mild acidic liquid such as 0.6% acetic acid instead. Which one to use depends on the specific compound.
