About Tesamorelin
What it is
Tesamorelin is a growth-hormone-releasing hormone analogue stabilised by the addition of a trans-3-hexenoyl group at one end. It is licensed in the United States as Egrifta for HIV-associated lipodystrophy. The licensed product is a specific pharmaceutical preparation for that indication and is not what is supplied here.
How it is understood to work
It binds the GHRH receptor. The added group protects it from dipeptidyl peptidase-4, the enzyme that rapidly degrades natural GHRH, giving it a longer working life than sermorelin while acting at the same receptor. Like other GHRH analogues it works through the pituitary, so the body's own regulatory feedback remains in play.
What research has looked at
Endocrine research on the GH axis, and adipose tissue studies, particularly visceral fat, which reflects the indication it was developed for.
Handling and storage
Lyophilised. Reconstitute gently, refrigerate, and avoid freeze-thaw cycling.
Supplied for in-vitro laboratory research only. Nothing above describes a dose, a protocol, or a use in humans or animals, and none of these compounds is a licensed medicine in the UK.

Research Information
Tesamorelin is a synthetic 44-amino-acid GHRH analogue stabilised by an N-terminal trans-3-hexenoyl modification. It's studied for its role in metabolic and visceral fat research. Researchers are interested in how stabilised GHRH analogues affect lipid metabolism pathways in cell-culture studies, distinct from the broader growth hormone signalling research. Most published work has used adipocyte and hepatocyte cell models to examine these mechanisms.
Research areas
- Stabilised GHRH analogue research
- Adipocyte cell-line studies
- Hepatocyte lipid metabolism research
- GHRH receptor activation duration studies
Analytical methods
Identity and purity are typically confirmed at source by high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) and mass spectrometry.
Storage and handling
Store lyophilised at -20°C, away from moisture and direct light. Once reconstituted, store at 2–8°C and use within the timeframe specified on the source datasheet.
For Research Use Only. Not for human or veterinary use.
Batch tested
Every batch is tested for identity and purity, and we publish the certificate.
