About Selank
What it is
Selank is a synthetic analogue of tuftsin, a naturally occurring four-amino-acid immune peptide, extended with a short stabilising sequence. Like Semax it came out of the same Russian research programme and shares its design logic: take a short endogenous fragment and make it last longer.
How it is understood to work
Work has examined GABAergic signalling, the expression of brain-derived neurotrophic factor, and effects on enkephalin-degrading enzymes. Its tuftsin parentage also gives it a documented relationship with immune signalling, so it appears in both neurological and immunological research contexts.
What research has looked at
Animal models of anxiety-like behaviour, and cell work on cytokine expression. As with Semax, most of the literature is Russian-language.
Handling and storage
Reconstitutes readily. Store cold and dark, and treat as short-lived in solution.
Supplied for in-vitro laboratory research only. Nothing above describes a dose, a protocol, or a use in humans or animals, and none of these compounds is a licensed medicine in the UK.

Research Information
Selank is a synthetic heptapeptide, a stabilised analogue of the immune peptide tuftsin (Thr-Lys-Pro-Arg) with a Pro-Gly-Pro tail. It's studied for its role in neuropeptide research, particularly the GABAergic and serotonergic pathways. Researchers are interested in how short peptides modulate anxiety-related neurotransmitter systems in cell-culture and animal-model studies. Most published work has examined its effects on enkephalin and BDNF expression in neural cell lines.
Research areas
- GABAergic pathway cell-model studies
- Enkephalin expression research
- Serotonergic signalling studies
- Stabilised peptide design comparison
Analytical methods
Identity and purity are typically confirmed at source by high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) and mass spectrometry.
Storage and handling
Store lyophilised at -20°C, away from moisture and direct light. Once reconstituted, store at 2–8°C and use within the timeframe specified on the source datasheet.
For Research Use Only. Not for human or veterinary use.
Batch tested
Every batch is tested for identity and purity, and we publish the certificate.
