About Ipamorelin
What it is
Ipamorelin is a synthetic five-amino-acid peptide belonging to the growth-hormone secretagogue class. It was designed for selectivity, and that is its defining feature relative to older secretagogues.
How it is understood to work
It acts at the growth-hormone secretagogue receptor, the same receptor ghrelin binds. Its research interest comes from what it does not do: in laboratory models it shows comparatively little effect on cortisol and prolactin, whereas earlier compounds in the class affected several hormonal axes at once. That selectivity makes it a cleaner tool for isolating a single pathway.
What research has looked at
Pituitary cell culture, receptor-binding studies, and animal endocrine models examining pulsatile hormone release.
Handling and storage
Lyophilised and stable when cold and dry. Reconstitute gently; refrigerate and use promptly once in solution.
Supplied for in-vitro laboratory research only. Nothing above describes a dose, a protocol, or a use in humans or animals, and none of these compounds is a licensed medicine in the UK.

Research Information
Ipamorelin is a synthetic pentapeptide and selective ghrelin receptor (GHSR) agonist, studied for its role in growth hormone secretion research. Unlike some other secretagogues, it's notable for not significantly affecting cortisol or prolactin pathways in cell-model studies, making it a useful tool for isolating ghrelin-specific signalling. Most published work has used pituitary cell lines to examine its selectivity and downstream effects on growth hormone release.
Research areas
- Ghrelin receptor (GHSR) binding studies
- Pituitary cell-line research
- Selective secretagogue comparison studies
- Growth hormone signalling pathway research
Analytical methods
Identity and purity are typically confirmed at source by high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) and mass spectrometry.
Storage and handling
Store lyophilised at -20°C, away from moisture and direct light. Once reconstituted, store at 2–8°C and use within the timeframe specified on the source datasheet.
For Research Use Only. Not for human or veterinary use.
Batch tested
Every batch is tested for identity and purity, and we publish the certificate.
